David M. Velarde

David M. Velarde went home to be with his Heavenly Father on March 4, 2017 at Midland Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 4, 1958 to the late Roman and Celia Velarde in Midland, Texas. David worked as a carpenter for most of his life and served in the United Sates Marine Corps. He enjoyed playing washers where he won numerous trophies. He loved Tejano music, dancing, and was a Dallas Cowboy fan. He also loved to barbecue and cook for family and friends. David had a green thumb for gardening and had a crazy sense of humor which his friends loved. David was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He had a special love for his children and grandchildren and enjoyed being with them. He will be missed greatly by all his family and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eddie Velarde and Sammy Velarde. He is survived by his companion, Linda Campos Velarde; sons, Michael Campos and wife Mariela, Eric Campos and wife Cecilia, and Adrian Velarde and wife Candice; a daughter, Viola Ojeda and husband Erik, all of Midland; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. David is also survived by four brothers, Larry Velarde of Eloy, Arizona, and Roman Velarde, Jr., Teddy Velarde, and Edward Velarde, all of Midland; four sisters, MaryAnn Romero, Belinda Velarde, Sandra Gardner, and Christine Salcido, also all of Midland; and by one aunt and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Viewing will be Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., with a rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday night at Heavenly Gate Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass is set for Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens.
