Jeronimo "Jerry" Retana

Jeronimo (Jerry) Retana, 57, of Midland, Texas, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on October 1, 2016 at Midland Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born on May 19, 1959 in El Paso, Texas to the late Guadalupe and Maria Retana. At an early age, he moved to Midland where he was raised by his loving grandparents, Francisco and Christina Gonzales. He attended Midland public schools and graduated from Midland Lee High School in 1977. Jerry met and later married Martha Lujan on February 10, 1978 in Midland. Jerry loved to dance, listen to music, and play his guitar. He was in the retail business along with his home repair business. He was a Catholic and sang with the choir for a few years. Jerry was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish & Shrine. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe and Maria Retana, and his grandparents, Francisco and Christina Gonzales. Jerry is survived by his wife, Martha Retana; a son, Jeremy Retana, both of Midland; and by five grandchildren. He is also survived his brother, Felipe Retana of El Paso, Texas; four sisters, Mary Helen Retana of Phoenix, Arizona, Hilda Retana Love of El Paso, and Lorraine Retana and Maria Rodriguez, both of Midland; and by numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Viewing will be Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., with a rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass is set for Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and Shrine. Burial will follow to Serenity Memorial Gardens.
