Maria Ulate

Maria De Jesus Alvarez Ulate was born in San Juan, Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Fabian Alvarez and Maria De La Cruz Gonzales on November 15, 1933. She spent the majority of her early life on a ranch and was known to be a great dancer. In the early 1970's, she met Jacinto Ulate and married him shortly thereafter. As Mrs. Ulate, she took on the role of mother to his seven children and then had three of their own. She was a full-time housewife. Maria was a very creative person; hobbies included drawing and sewing. She was also known to be a vivid storyteller and a people person. She went on to become a grandmother and great grandmother of many children. On November 2, 2015, Maria passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family. Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Jacinto M. Ulate; two sons, Norberto Ulate and Vicente Ulate; and by a daughter, Antonia Holguin. She is survived by her children; five sons, Jose Ulate, Greg Ulate, and Filiberto Ulate all of Midland, Nicolas Ulate of Odessa, and Nabor Ulate of Ojinaga, Chihuahua Mexico; two daughters, Carmen Barrera of Midland and Norberta Ulate of Odessa; and by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Viewing will be today from 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a rosary starting at 7:00 p.m., both at Heavenly Gate Funeral Home. Funeral mass is set for Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Serenity Memorial Gardens.
