Norma Prather Obituary

Norma Prather, 81, of Midland, passed away on November 11, 2016. She was born on June 23, 1935 in Dime Box, Texas to Ada Huckaby Thomas and Charlie H. Thomas. Norma married Bob Prather in 1977. She worked for Olan Mills and then for O.G. Wilson Jewelers. Norma and Bob both worked for Pinkerton Security and, after retiring together, sold their home and travelled the country in an R.V. for 10 years. She moved to Florida after Bob died to be closer to her son. Norma is preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepdaughter, Bobbie Prather; brothers, Wayne Thomas and Charles Thomas; and sister, Geneva Stanley. She is survived by her son, Steven Dixon and wife Cim; stepson, Stanley Prather and wife Sheila; sister, Vera Johnston; and grandchildren, Tracy Sadler Coker and husband Donnie, Christopher Dixon, Christi and husband Steve Barnes, Crystal and husband Hank Williams, Jason and wife Renzi Connel, Deadra and husband Michael Dorris, and Tony and wife Nicole Prather. She is also survived by her nephews, Jimmy Johnston and wife Angie, Delbert Johnston and wife Linda, and Tommy Stanley and wife Kathy; nieces, Linda Wall, Shirley Drake and husband Don, Cynthia Koonce and husband Larry, Sherry Coombes and husband Joe, Dawn Shirley, Debby Kennedy, Denise Whipp, and Mary Ziebell; four great-granddaughters; four great-grandsons; one great-great-grandson; 17 great-nieces; 12 great-nephews; and by numerous great-great-nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation at Ellis Funeral Home on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service has been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with David Johnson officiating.
