Tomas R. Gonzales

Tomas R. Gonzales, Sr., (Apa) 81, of Midland, Texas, peacefully went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, August 18, 2017 at his residence. Tomas was born in Charlotte, Texas on September 18, 1935 to Fermin Gonzales and Jacinta Riojas. He was married to his late wife, Maria Elena Gonzales (Ama), for 58 years and had six daughters and one son. Apa enjoyed scratching lottery tickets, watching the golf and weather channels, but his all-time favorites were watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys play. Apa will be dearly missed but we know he was ready to meet up with the love of his life, Ama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fermin and Jacinta Gonzales; wife, Maria Elena Gonzales; daughter, Lucy Chandler; brothers, Cuco and Pascual Gonzales; and sisters, Cande Equinones and Matilde Berreles. He is survived by his daughters, Cindy (Mike) Leon, Joann Gonzales, Brenda (Heather) Porras, Melinda (Martin) Baeza, and Michelle Bernal; son, Tomas (Lisa) Gonzales, Jr.; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and by his sister, Virginia Revilla. Viewing will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Garden Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Antonio Chandler, Mike Leon, Jr., Joshua Martinez, Carlos Gonzales, Tommy Garcia, and Albert Grado.
