Fermin Hernandez Obituary

Our beloved Dad, Welo, great grandpa, great-great grandpa Fermin U. Hernandez was called home on Sunday, January 13, 2019. He is now reunited with his loving wife of 68 years; and are both with our heavenly father in heaven.
Fermin was born July 7, 1930. He married Margaret L. Hernandez on September 16, 1950. He worked for the City of Midland- Sanitation Department for 32 years. Fermin was a member of the Holy Men's Society that built the church. They were also the custodial group responsible for maintenance of the church in the early years. Fermin enjoyed playing golf with his brother, his sons and grandsons. He was a true Dallas Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed the Rangers games. In his later years he enjoyed yard work and gardening.
He is survived by his two sons, Sam L. Hernandez (wife Gloria S. Hernandez) and John P. Hernandez. Two daughters, Paula Torres (husband Pedro Torres) and Mary E.Olgin (husband Jesse Olgin, Jr.), 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Genaro Hernandez, Andres Hernandez, Ruben Hernandez, four sisters, Luisa Munoz, Modesta Munoz, Delia Segura and Victoria Lara all of Midland. He had numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret L. Hernandez, his son Eddie Hernandez, his parents Genaro and Marta Hernandez, two brothers, Romeo Collazo and Rosendo Collazo.
Rosary will be held at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Michael Salgado, David Salgado, Jesse Olgin III, Adam Martinez, Jr., Alex Gonzalez, Eric Esparza.
