Juanita Gonzalez Avena

With profound sadness we announce that Juanita Gonzalez Avena, 92, of Midland, was called to be in the eternal presence of our Lord on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. She left us peacefully while listening to instrumental music and in the arms of her daughter, Gloria and in the home of her daughter Rosa. She was born May 16, 1929 to Carlota De La Cruz and Miguel Gonzalez in Terlingua, Texas. Juanita married the love of her life, Jose C. Avena on August 20, 1945, who preceded her in death after 67 years of marriage. She lived a full life as a loving wife and mother who loved to cook, dance, sing, and who took up art work late in life, leaving each family a dedicated art piece. Together Juanita and Jose had 10 children. Their children, Adolfo Molina of Presidio; José Angel Avena and wife, Irma of Friendswood, TX; Rosa Avena Carrasco and husband, Saul; Concepcion Avena Tavarez and late husband, Everardo; Carlota Avena Martin and late husband, Rickey; Hector Manuel Avena and wife, Aurora; Jorge son Guadalupe Avena, Gloria E. Avena, Juanita Avena Perez and husband, Edward; Diana Avena Dominguez and husband, Rafael, all of Midland. Other survivors include their 126 grand, great, and great-great grandchildren. Other family members include her brother Miguel, wife, and nieces and nephews from Chihuahua, sisters Maria Hernandez and Martha Meraz and husband, nephews and nieces, all from Midland. Please join us for visitation at 4:00, followed by the celebration of her life on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday the 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Jesus Name UPC at 3110 WCR 116, Midland, Texas 79706. Burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6800 S. Tx-349, Midland, Texas 79706. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Pallbearers will be Hector Avena, Pepe Avena, Saul Carrasco, Jr., Yehudi Diaz, Edgar Avena, Austin and Anthony Tavarez, and Andrew Dominguez.
