Linda Galyon Obituary

Linda Galyon (Dillard), 69, of Midland, Texas entered eternal life on Monday, January 7, 2019. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2019 at Serenity Memorial Gardens in Midland, under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. The family asks that all attendees wear blue attire in honor of Linda and in celebration of her life. Above all, Linda was a woman of deep faith and a child of the Holy and Living God. She attended North 'A' and Golf Course Road Churches of Christ throughout her life, but she lived her faith. She, her sisters and her mother instilled faith and a love of the truth in her nephew. She modeled the love and kindness of Christ in her daily life. Linda always gave an even-tempered, just and kind answer to whatever question, conversation or situation in which she engaged. In an age of self-advancement, Linda believed in, and was, kind, first and foremost. Linda was born on December 4, 1949 to Bessie (Lorein) and Herbert Dillard. A proud, life-long member of the Midland community, she attended South Elementary, Cowden Junior High and graduated from Midland High School. She was a proud Bulldog for life. She continued her education, earning a bachelor's degree from UTPB and graduating with a Masters in Library Sciences from The University of North Texas. She worked as a teacher at Midland Christian School for six years and then joined MISD, serving as a librarian at several campuses throughout 23 years. She loved reading and she adored her school libraries, the city library, and her personal library. Linda's kindness extended to all living creatures, and she was always a person to put her beliefs into action. She grew up surrounded by cats, dogs, birds, and whatever stray animal needed love and attention, and she continued that in her adult life. She fought for compassion for all life and cared for many animals, both in her home and throughout the city as she saw the need. She was a vital member of her family and is dearly missed, but her family, in tears and heartache, also celebrates her reunion with the King. Survivors include her dear husband, Tim Galyon, step-children David Galyon and Jason Galyon, and two precious sisters to whom she was devoted, Shirley Cook and Patsy Dillard. Survivors also include her nephew, David Cook, his wife, Stephanie Cook, and their son, Seth Cook, to whom she was particularly attached. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Herbert and Bessie Lorein Dillard.
