Margarita Valdez Obituary

Surrounded by loved ones, Margarita Bustamante Valdez passed away at the age of 71 in her home in Brownwood, TX on January 25, 2020.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Lionel Valdez; her son Steve Valdez and daughter-in-law, Kim Valdez of Midland, TX; her daughter Teri Valdez of Arlington, TX; and son Michael Valdez and daughter-in-law, Vanessa Valdez of Austin, TX; her five grandchildren, Amber McKinley and husband Trevor McKinley, Ryan Garcia, Kara Valdez, Sophia Valdez and Olivia Valdez; two great grandchildren, Jordan Taylor and Aniyah McKinley; her sisters, Eva Garcia, Simona Mata, Diana Torres, Luz Valencia; brothers, Johnny Valencia, Sammy Valencia, Raul Valencia. Her dear in-laws George and Corina Matta, Rudolfo and Grace Valdez, Thomas and Olga Valdez, and Viola and Sandy Kirby.

She is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces and friends. She is preceded by her brothers, Rejiño Bustamante, Ismael Bustamante and Robert Valencia.

Margaret was born in Pecos, TX on January 10, 1949 to Agapito Bustamante and Juanita Valencia Bustamante, who preceded her in death. She married Lionel, her high school sweetheart, on June 11th and have been together for more than fifty years. They would eventually move to Midland, TX where they would raise their two sons and one daughter before retiring and moving to Brownwood, TX.

Margaret was a very loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and friend to many. She always put family and friends first. She loved gardening, walking, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite way to pass the time was doting over her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was also a spiritual woman and loved attending church.

There will be a viewing from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Rosary at 7p.m. at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home & Chapel on Thursday, January 30, 2020. Mass will be at St. Stephen's Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Friday, January 31st. Graveside services will immediately follow at Serenity Memorial Garden Cemetery. Reception to follow at St. Stephen's Catholic Church.

Pallbearers will be her two sons Steve Valdez and Michael Valdez, along with her grandson Ryan Garcia, and three nephews Salvador Bombara, Dennis Matta and George Matta.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude towards, Mike and Debbie Murray, Rick and Tina Butler, Angel Magaña and all those who supported them through this difficult time.
