Ramona E. Mata

Ramona Escontrias Mata, 79 of Midland, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 8, 2018. She was born to the late Ezequiel Escontrias and Rosa Hernandez on June 22, 1938 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua Mexico and was raised in Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua MX. She met and later married Eleuterio Mata in 1953. The couple moved to Midland in 1991. Ramona was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed watching soccer, cooking, dancing and singing. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish & Shrine. Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, Eleuterio Mata; a son, Juan Valentine Mata and a grandson, Jorge Soto. She is survived by her family; two sons, Lorenzo Mata and Bruno Mata both of Midland; six daughters, Luisa Mata of Chihuahua, Chihuahua MX, Gloria Mata of Ojinaga, Chihuahua MX, Irma Baeza of Dallas, TX and Guadalupe Mata, Maria White and Maria (Mary) Mata all of Midland; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ramona is also survived by her four brothers, Gabriel Escontrias and Refugio Escontrias both of Phoenix, AZ, Oscar Escontrias of Borger, TX and Carlos Escontrias of Ft. Stockton, TX and by two sisters, Manuela Guevara of Terlingua, TX and Natividad Escontrias of Torreon, Coahuila, MX. Viewing will be Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 2:00p.m - 9:00p.m with a prayer service starting at 7:00p.m at Emmanuel Baptist Church. A viewing will also be Monday, February 12, 2018 from 9:00a.m - 9:00p.m with a rosary starting at 7:00pm at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass is set for Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 10:00a.m at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish & Shrine.
