Daniel Ruezga Sr. Obituary

Daniel Torre Ruezga Sr., a beloved father, son, grandfather, and brother went to be with our Heavenly Father on April 5th, 2025, in Midland, TX.

Daniel was born in Juarez, Mexico to Maximiliano Jorge Ruezga and Isela Ruezga on December 15th, 1967. Daniel received his citizenship August 31, 1995, and was very proud of his American citizenship but never forgot his Mexican roots. His last job was working as a driver for Tasco Auto Color. His most tenure job was being a bus driver for the Midland Independent School District for over 15 years. He played a vital part in shaping the minds of a generation of kids. They got to their destination safely while enjoying the radio being played at full blast. There was usually a line to get on his “party bus”. Daniel was a music lover of all genres. He enjoyed Spanish, Country, Christian, and Rock music primarily. At the end of the day, he was a human Jukebox, and he passed this love of music down to his children. His love for music inspired him in the last years of life to sing karaoke at local restaurants in Midland and at Music City Mall in Odessa. He was a true one band man. Daniel was a passionate sports fan and loved watching soccer, particular Mexico and United States national teams. He enjoyed playing indoor soccer with his brother and brothers-in-law, but that would only last 10 minutes before he would receive a red card. He was a huge Boxing fan, particularly Julio Casar Chavez, and was a fan of Permian High School football until his son played for Midland Lee. His ultimate favorite sports team was the Dallas Cowboys. Legend has it that if you drove by his house while the Cowboys were playing, you could hear him yelling at the tv from down the block, a tradition that he passed on to his son. Family meant everything to him, and he was a huge family man that loved his mom, sisters, brother, son, 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren, nieces and nephews and their children with a fiery passion. Most important in Daniel’s life was his love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Daniel’s faith helped shaped him into a man of great integrity and to have a heart of servitude. He never stopped praying to God and giving thanks, just as with Daniel in the lions’ den, he was always faithful despite what life would throw at him.

Daniel is preceded in death by his father Maximiliano Jorge Ruezga and mother of his 3 children Jackie.

Daniel is survived by his mother Isela Ruezga; son Daniel Ruezga, Jr. and wife Kimberly of Lubbock; daughters Britanny Nicole Ruezga and husband Benjamin Rodriguez of Phoenix, AZ and Samantha Desirre Ruezga of Austin; longtime partner Mary Martinez and her 3 children Lucia Martinez, Victoria Martinez, and Armando Martinez; brother Ismael Ruezga; sisters Mary Ruezga Castorena, Lorena Corella and her husband Jose, Sr., Sonja Campa and her husband Ricardo; grandchildren Olivia Marie Ruezga, Benjamin Iven Rodriguez, and Maiia Desirre Rodriguez; nephews Sergio Castorena, Jr. and Jose Corella, Jr.; nieces Marilyn Perez, Lizzete Sepulveda, and Mitzy Laabs; along with many other family members in El Paso and Brownsville, TX.
