Debra Ann Tatum-Tryon was born May 7, 1963 in Quanah, Texas to Minnie Kate and Edward Tatum. She transitioned from earth to Glory on August 2, 2024.She was raised in Midland, Texas where she attended church at New Jerusalem Baptist Church and also attended school at Crockett Elementary, Goddard Junior Highschool, and Midland High School. She later attained her GED. She worked in the medical field as a CNA at Terrance West, Manor Park, and as a caregiver at M.A.R.C. where she enjoyed giving love care and compassion to people in need. She later rededicated her life to Christ and became an active member of Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church and loved the family there. Debra was a woman that would take anyone in no matter of their background no matter of their hangups she loved everyone and gave them the benefit of the doubt regardless of who they were. She was a mother figure and Auntie figure to many as she gave positive advice and a home to many. She always pushed & encouraged all of her loved ones to be great. She enjoyed singing, music, playing dominoes, cards and taking family trips across Texas and from city to city and state to state. She especially loved spending time with her kids and grandkids, cooking for her family and just having quiet sits at the duck pond feeding the ducks, fish ,and other water creatures. She was the strong woman of substance and a woman that was not afraid to ever speak her mind. Her personality and sense of humor was very infectious everywhere she went even on her way to transitioning. Debra was proceeded in death by her Mother and Father, Minnie Kate Tatum and Edward Tatum, her biological mother Ida Mae Norris and her big sister Wanda Kendrick. Debra leaves to cherish her beautiful memories to her Husband :Rev. Wendell Tryon, her four children: Jermaine Tatum ( Jenika Hall-Tatum Midland,TX), Randell Tryon (Portland,Oregon), Aquanetta Tatum-Goodman ( Anthony Goodman Midland,Texas) and Shaquita Brown-Mayfield ( Lee Mayfield, San Antonio,TX) 4 Grand daughters: Alexis, Daisha, DShante & Aniyah 6 Grandsons:Jeremiah,Anthony, Jace, Austin,Trey,&Asher 3 God Daughters:Julia Henry,Melony “Redd” McCalister &Rahsheeta Greene 2 God sons:James Cado,Shaquille Lee 2 Great Grandsons: Santana and Saint 8 Brothers: Noble Kendrick (Latrese) John Kendrick Jerry Kendrick(Kelly) Joe Kendrick J.W. Kendrick Dejuan Norris Willie Norris Randy Norris 3 Sisters: Elvira Moten(Kenneth) Delinda Norris Brenda Norris 3 Special friends: Audrey White Mary Brown Charlotte Jackson And a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who she loved dearly , Understand that she fought all the way to the end and she knew that “ To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8
Viewing will be Friday, August 16, 2024 from 1:00pm to 9:00pm with a wake beginning at 7:00pm at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service is set for Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 11:30am at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church 1001 S. Main St. Midland, TX. Burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens.
