Douglas Lee Boone

Douglas Lee Boone left this world to join his parents and older brother in heaven on Wednesday, 2/01/2023. Visitation will be from 5 pm to 7 pm, Friday, February 3, 2023, at American Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 10 am, Saturday, 2/4/2023 at American Heritage Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens. Douglas was born in Tyler, TX on August 6, 1939, to EB and Era Woodson Boone. He met his wife when he was a wee young 8th grader living in Snyder, TX. They were married in Leeds, England while he was stationed in Germany during his service in the United States Army. Because of the early arrival of his son, they settled in Midland, TX, where they have resided for the last 60 years. Doug had a long career with Drilco Industrial and then spent many of his retirement years driving tractors in the cotton fields. He had a host of friends through the years who he spent time with hunting, fishing, motorcycling, and playing cards. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Don Boone. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, Winnie Boone of Midland, his son, Garry Boone of Midland, his daughter and her husband, Michelle and Matt Maurer of Midland, his grandchildren, William and Chelsea Chappell, his sister and her husband, Cherie and Carol Holtzclaw of Midland, his nephew, Lance Boone and children Walker and Maggie of Conroe, TX. Arrangements are entrusted to American Heritage Funeral Home, 4100 N FM 1788 in Midland.
