Elida Lara Mendoza

Elida Lara Mendoza, 65, of Midland, Texas, went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday November 27, 2016. Elida was born in Pecos, Texas on Sunday, January 21, 1951. She graduated from Pecos High School and continued on to graduate with her Associate's degree from Odessa College. Elida was a substitute teacher for Midland ISD for over 20 years. Her name was well-known as the "best substitute" to have. She enjoyed sewing and watching her Dallas Cowboys. She loved spending time with her family, especially her three granddaughters. She was an active member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. She actively donated to St. Jude's, the 700 Club, and St Ann's Catholic Church. Elida is preceded in death by her niece, Evelyn Marie; her grandmother, Valentina; and her parents, Alberto and Bertha. Elida is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Mendoza; her sisters, Virginia Rodriguez, Alicia Curtis, Lidia Mendoza, Esperanza Rayos, and Mary Meissner; her granddaughters, Alicia, Adalia, and Azaria; and by six nieces, three nephews, three great-nieces, six great-nephews and many other cousins, family members, and friends. A visitation followed by the rosary service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. The visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home, with the Rosary service to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Father Tony Franco officiating. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Caleb Meissner, Robert Curtis, Jr., Robert Curtis Sr., Frank Rodriguez, Jonathan Bock, Joe Bonilla, Robert Martinez, and Elonsio Rayos.
