Essie Mae Lee Smith

Essie Mae Lee Smith, passed away peacefully at home on December 2, 2018, at the age of 65. She was born November 9, 1953, in Midland, Texas to MacDonald Kelley and Mary Lou Lee Brown. She met and married the love of her life Leroy Smith Sr. in 1976. She was one to support her family and a mother to all. She was known as Mae Mae, Sweetie, Aunt Essie and Mama to all her nieces, nephews and close friends. Her quick and savvy sense of humor were present until the day she departed her life. She was preceded in death by her parents MacDonald Kelley and Mary Lou Lee Brown. She leaves behind to cherish her sweet memories her husband, Leroy Smith Sr.; son, Leroy Smith Jr.; daughter, Tazer Hall (Sammy) all of Midland, Texas; brothers, Calvin Lee (Beverly) and James Lee both of Midland, Texas; sisters, Wanda Lee Younger (Donnie) and Lula Lee both of Midland, Texas and Tammy Lee Holloway (Gayley Beal) of Tyler, Texas; granddaughter, Za'Niya Hall of Midland, Texas; and, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Avalos-Sanchez and Thomas Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 2400 N. Tyler, Midland, Texas 79705, with Rev. Curtis Joiner officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6800 S. Hwy. 349, Midland, Texas 79706.
