George Emmett Baley Obituary

George Emmett Baley, 90, of Midland, Texas passed away on July 31, 2026.

George Baley was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on October 11, 1935 to Charles and Lenora (Cummins) Baley. His family then moved to Chalk Mountain, TX where he grew up. At age 17, George joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Panama where he received the Lord into his heart and would spend his free time witnessing in the streets. After completing his service, he returned to the United States and married Patrica Marcell Smith on September 7, 1957 in Electra, TX. They moved to Midland, TX and had four children: David, Paul, Marsha, and Will. George was bivocational, owning his own construction company called Hill Country Plastering and Tile while simultaneously working as a minister. He worked as a minister for over 35 years serving congregations across Texas in towns such as Big Lake, Sunset, Fredricksburg, and Stephenville. George loved camping and fishing along the Pecos River. He hosted many fish fries for his family and friends. Upon retiring, George and his wife Marcell returned to Midland, TX. 

He is proceeded in death by his wife Marcell; daughter Marsha; grandson Christopher; parents Charles and Nora; brothers Donald Gene, Charles, Buddy and Jimmy; and his sisters Helen and Bobby.

He is survived by his brother Billy; children David (Doreen), Paul (MaLenda), and Will (Rebekkah); grandchildren Ashlie, Quinton, Caleb, Emma, Jeff, Tiffany, Natalie, Jacob, Dani, Caitlyn, Isabel, Emma, and Kyralyn. 

Viewing will take place from 5 pm – 9 pm on Monday, August 5, 2026 at Lewallan-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home in Midland, TX. 

Funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Midland First Assembly of God in Midland, TX.

Burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens in Midland, TX.
