Jose A. Ibarra

ose “Pepe” Ibarra, 76, passed away on August 19, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. He was born on April 25, 1948, in La Mula Municipio de Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. Pepe as he was known to most was an outgoing and cheerful person. He loved to sing his favorite songs and be surrounded by friends and family. He also enjoyed old western movies and the Animal Planet or “Los Animales” as he would call it. He worked as an “albanil” in Mexico where he married and had two children. He moved to Wilcox, Arizona in 1989 where he worked in agriculture. A few years later he moved to Midland, Texas where he worked for Lydick-Hooks Roofing Co. and retired after 20 years. He then moved to Hobbs, NM where he resided for the remainder of his life.

Pepe is survived by spouse Ramona Ortega from Hobbs, NM; Son Jose Angel Ibarra from Odessa, TX; Daughter Griselda Ibarra from Ojinaga, Chihuahua; Grandsons Alejandro Rico from Midland, TX, Miguel Ibarra, Jose Ibarra and Great-Grandson Abel Ibarra from Odessa, TX, Granddaughter Yahdira Ibarra and Great-Granddaughter Mia Ramirez from Midland, TX; Stepsons: Juan Bueno, Lazaro Bueno Jr, Raul Bueno, Jose Bueno, Step daughter Ludivina Bueno  and granddaughters Melissa, Emely and Destiny from Hobbs NM; Brother Daniel Ibarra from Midland, TX; Four sisters: Elizabeth Ibarra from Midland, TX; Civia Ibarra from Midland, TX; Eulalia Enriquez, from Ojinaga, Chihuahua; Rita Ibarra from Oklahoma; and various nieces and nephews.

Pepe is preceded in death by his parents Manuel Ibarra from Camargo and Soledad Aguirre from la Mula; Two brothers: Manuel Ibarra from Chihuahua; Marin Ibarra from Ojinaga Chihuahua; Two sisters Olivia Herrera from Midland, TX and Maria de Jesus “Chita” from Odessa, TX. Other siblings that died at a young age.

The viewing will be held at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 10AM to 9AM.

A prayer service will be held at the LGP Chapel at 7pm on Tuesday.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday August 28, 2024, at the LGP Chapel at 10AM.

A burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Garden Cemetery.

We would like to thank everyone that donated to his funeral arrangements (over fifty people, I wish I could list all of you). We want to give special thanks to Raul Bueno and spouse Lori for watching over Pepe; to siblings Daniel Ibarra, Elizabeth Ibarra, and Civia Ibarra and their families and Sean Ramirez for the extra support in the funeral arrangements. Also to the Herrera and Nino Families. Thank you for making this difficult journey easier.
