Raquel Galvan passed away on June 27, 2017 surrounded by family at Baylor, Scott & White Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday July 3, 2017 at Midland First Assembly of God Church, 100 West Wadley, Midland, Texas, with Pastor Mike Hanks officiating. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel. Viewing will be at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel Sunday July 2, 2017 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Raquel was born October 23, 1973 in Plainview, Texas. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1992. She married her childhood sweetheart, Robert Galvan, on July 17, 1992. She worked at Wilson Trucking & TDCJ in Plainview, Texas before moving to Midland, where she worked at Texas Health & Human Services. Raquel was a devoted Christian, a loving wife, mother, daughter and friend. She organized many outreach programs at her church, touched many lives, and shared God's word and love through her ministry at Midland First Assembly of God. She enjoyed serving at the homeless shelter, soup kitchen, organizing clothing give away programs, along with organizing Fall Festivals, Easter celebrations, and coordinating Thanksgiving and Christmas festivities. She visited the nursing home and delighted in visiting those in need. Her favorite past time was shopping garage and estate sells looking for bargains for the entire family. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert Galvan; daughter, Cassandra Galvan of Midland; and her son, Stephen Anthony Galvan of Canyon, Texas. She also survived by her parents, Benito & Maria Garcia; her parents-in-law, Elijio & Lupe Galvan; her brothers, Lionel & Angie Garcia, Benito Garcia Jr, Robert & Irma Garcia and their families; her sisters, Belinda & Raymond Pena, and Isabel & Robert Rodriguez, all of Plainview, TX. She will be missed greatly by her family, church, and friends, including numerous nieces and nephews, and her dog Meka that waited patiently for her return to Midland. Pallbearers will be her brothers, Lionel, Benito, Jr, and Robert Garcia; nephew Jaime Camarillo; and church members Sonny Chalambaga and Polo Trevino. Honorary pallbearers, great-nephews Jaime Camarillo Jr and Urijah Garza. The family expresses gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Baylor Hospital in Dallas and Medical Center Hospital of Odessa. Thank you to Twice Blessed Apartments where she lived for eight months in Dallas. Also thank you to all her family and friends that supported her through her medical journey.
