Sara Rubio

Sara Rubio, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and devout servant of her faith, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, in Midland, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. Born on September 26, 1952, in Midland, Sara spent her life deeply rooted in the community she cherished.

Sara married the love of her life on November 10, 1973. She was the devoted wife of Nacho Rubio and a pillar of strength and love for her family. Together, they built a life centered on faith and family. She is survived by her husband Nacho and their children: Nacho Rubio II and his wife Blanca Rubio; Luzi Trevino and her husband Ian Trevino; Christabelle Ornelas and her husband Gonsalo Ornelas; Maritza Galindo and her husband Mateo Galindo; and Eulalio Rubio. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Nacho Rubio III and his wife Annelisa Rubio, Rodrigo Urias, Kaleb Rubio, Austin Rubio, Asael Esquivel, Emma Ornelas, Sara Galindo, Simon Galindo, Luke Ornelas, Darci Trevino, Mateo Galindo, Olivia Ornelas, Stevie Ornelas, and great-grandson Nacho Rubio IV (Cuatro).

Sara was preceded in death by her parents Simon and Julia Bernal; her brothers Cruz Bernal and Abel Bernal; and her grandson Conrad Ornelas. Their memories remained close to Sara’s heart throughout her life.

A devout member of Templo Bautista La Hermosa in Midland, Sara embraced her role as a pastor's wife with grace and dedication. She found so much joy in decorating the church for every season and holiday. When not at church, you could find her in the kitchen cooking and baking for her loved ones or camping out at their ranch with her husband for days at a time. She expressed her love through baking, cooking, and crocheting blankets for those she cherished. If you were fortunate enough to receive one of her handmade blankets, you knew just how special you were to her. She was deeply intentional in the way she loved others, always showing up when she was needed. With an uncanny intuition, she seemed to know exactly when to call or stop by, often at just the right moment. Above all, her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren, whom she loved wholeheartedly and treasured beyond measure.

Sara’s memory will forever be treasured by those who were blessed to know her. May the love she shared bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.

Viewing will be held at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Chapel on Monday, July 20, from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, with a service beginning at 7:00 pm.

Funeral service will be held at Templo Bautista La Hermosa on Tuesday, July 21, at 10:00 am.

Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens.

Sara fue precedida en vida por sus padres Simón y Julia Bernal; sus hermanos Cruz Bernal y Abel Bernal; y su nieto Conrad Ornelas. Los recuerdos de ellos permanecieron cerca del corazón de Sara a lo largo de toda su vida.

Como devota miembro del Templo Bautista La Hermosa en Midland, Sara asumió su rol como esposa de pastor con gracia y dedicación. Encontraba una enorme alegría al decorar la iglesia para cada temporada y festividad. Cuando no estaba en la iglesia, se le podía encontrar en la cocina cocinando y horneando para sus seres queridos, o acampando en su rancho junto a su esposo durante días enteros. Expresaba su amor a través de la repostería, la cocina y tejiendo cobijas a ganchillo para las personas que apreciaba. Si tuviste la fortuna de recibir una de sus cobijas hechas a mano, sabías lo especial que eras para ella. Era sumamente intencional en la forma en que amaba a los demás, estando siempre presente cuando se le necesitaba. Con una intuición asombrosa, parecía saber exactamente cuándo llamar o pasar a visitar, a menudo en el momento justo. Por encima de todo, la mayor alegría de su vida fueron sus nietos, a quienes amó con todo su corazón y atesoró más allá de toda medida.

La memoria de Sara será atesorada por siempre por aquellos que tuvieron la bendición de conocerla. Que el amor que compartió brinde consuelo a todos los que lloran su partida.

Velorio se llevará a cabo en la capilla Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home el lunes 20 de julio, de 6:00 pm a 9:00 pm, con un servicio religioso comenzando a las 7:00 pm.

Servicio funebre se realizará en el Templo Bautista La Hermosa el martes 21 de julio a las 10:00 am.
