Victor Castillo

Earth lost a fearless and tireless warrior for God and Heaven earned a joyful, energetic angel in Victor Castillo.

Victor Castillo was born in Villa Frontera, Coahuila, Mexico on December 11, 1947, to Josefa and Vicente Castillo. He spent his childhood in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, raised with his 8 brothers and sisters by his widowed mom and married his wife, Francisca at the age of 20 and celebrated 56 wedding anniversaries. He migrated to the United States shortly after and eventually settled in Midkiff, TX with his family of 5 children. He was passionate about his farming career and after 34 years, retired and moved to Midland. He worked as a yard maintenance man for Pilot for a little over 10 years. His work ethic was impeccable; always having pride in everything he did.

He loved serving his church and tirelessly gave his time and poured himself into his various committees and groups at church. His journey in his faith began in the St. Lawrence/Midkiff communities where he instituted a prayer group and he last served in Comunidad Catholica A.C.T.S and ACTS Missions West Texas in Midland at Our Lady of Guadalupe. He was enthusiastic about his work for God, loved to travel to carry God's word from small farming communities in West Texas to churches in Panama.

He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years and watching baseball games in his latter. Watching a good boxing match is the only thing he would trade for a good night's sleep.

Victor's fight for life ended on September 28, 2023, in Midland, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vicente and Josefa Castillo, his sister, Josefina Velasquez and brother Tomas Castillo. He is survived by his loving wife, Francisca Castillo, his son Martin Castillo, his granddaughter Ashleigh Gray, great-grandchildren Rico Gray, Kayden Gray and Zy'aire Gray and daughter-in-law Cynthia Spencer, grandson Devin Castillo and granddaughter Mya Castillo, daughter Gloria Ybarra and granddaughter Kara Castillo, great-grand daughter Kaylee Miranda, Kaylen Miranda and Kinzley Miranda, grandson Joseph Mancha, great grandson Xayvian Mancha, great grandson Xayden Mancha, great granddaughter Islaa Mancha and great grandson Joshua Mancha, grandson Kaleb Ybarra, daughter Marisa and son-in-law Freddy Esquibel and two grandsons, Jacob Esquibel, great grandson James Shirley, great granddaughter Elise Esquibel, grandson Isaac Esquibel, great grandson Aiden Esquibel, great granddaughter Mariella Esquibel, son Victor Castillo Jr and granddaughter Isabel Castillo and grandson Isaiah Castillo and his son Thomas and daughter-in-law Mona Castillo, granddaughter Abbigail Castillo and grandson Ayden Castillo.

He left a void in the Castillo family and his church family but lived his life being an example of a faithful servant with a fighting spirit. He will be sadly missed but will always be remembered by his mischievous nature that always brought laughter.

Víctor Castillo nació en Villa Frontera, Coahuila, México el 11 de diciembre de 1947, hijo de Josefa y Vicente Castillo. Pasó su infancia en Piedras Negras, Coahuila, México, criado con sus 8 hermanos y hermanas por su mamá viuda y se casó con su esposa, Francisca a la edad de 20 años y celebraron 56 aniversarios de boda. Emigró a los Estados Unidos poco después y finalmente se estableció en Midkiff, TX con su familia de 5 hijos. Fue un apasionado de su carrera agrícola y después de 34 años, se retiró y se trasladó a Midland. Trabajó como encargado de mantenimiento de jardines para Pilot durante algo más de 10 años. Su ética de trabajo era impecable; siempre estaba orgulloso de todo lo que hacía.

Le encantaba servir a su iglesia y sin descanso dio su tiempo y se entregó a sus diversos comités y grupos en la iglesia. Su viaje en su fe comenzó en las comunidades de San Lorenzo/Midkiff donde instituyó un grupo de oración y sirvió por última vez en Comunidad Católica A.C.T.S y ACTS Missions West Texas en Midland en Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Era un entusiasta de su trabajo para Dios, le encantaba viajar para llevar la palabra de Dios desde las pequeñas comunidades agrícolas en el oeste de Texas hasta las iglesias en Panamá.

Disfrutaba jugar béisbol en sus años de juventud y ver partidos de béisbol en sus últimos. Ver un buen combate de boxeo es lo único que cambiaría por una buena noche de sueño.

La lucha de Víctor por la vida terminó el 28 de septiembre de 2023, en Midland, TX. Le preceden en la muerte sus padres, Vicente y Josefa Castillo, su hermana, Josefina Velasquez y su hermano Tomas Castillo. Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Francisca Castillo, su hijo Martin Castillo, su nieta Ashleigh Gray, sus bisnietos Rico Gray, Kayden Gray y Zy'aire Gray y su nuera Cynthia Spencer, su nieto Devin Castillo y su nieta Mya Castillo, hija Gloria Ybarra y nieta Kara Castillo, bisnieta Kaylee Miranda, Kaylen Miranda y Kinzley Miranda, nieto Joseph Mancha, bisnieto Xayvian Mancha, bisnieto Xayden Mancha, bisnieta Islaa Mancha y bisnieto Joshua Mancha, nieto Kaleb Ybarra, hija Marisa y yerno Freddy Esquibel y dos nietos, Jacob Esquibel, bisnieto James Shirley, bisnieta Elise Esquibel, nieto Isaac Esquibel, gran nieto Aiden Esquibel, gran nieta Mariella Esquibel, hijo Victor Castillo Jr y nieta Isabel Castillo y nieto Isaiah Castillo y su hijo Thomas y nuera Mona Castillo, nieta Abbigail Castillo y nieto Ayden Castillo.

Dejó un vacío en la familia Castillo y su familia de la iglesia, pero vivió su vida siendo un ejemplo de un fiel servidor con un espíritu de lucha. Será tristemente extrañado pero siempre será recordado por su naturaleza traviesa que siempre traía risas.
