Linda M (Bryan) Reeves Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Linda M (Bryan) Reeves, age 75 of Midland TX, went to be with Jesus on July 21st, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold K & Loura M Bryan. A daughter Mylinda R (Reeves) Davilla, and 2 special sons in laws Michael S Moore and Jay D Hards. A sister Roberta J (Bryan) Moulton, a brother Lee W Bryan, and a half-brother Benny Jackson. Brother & sister-in-law AM & Donna Mae (Reeves) McKinzie, Sister-in-law Geraldine (Reeves) Bond, Brother & sister-in-law Charlie & Wanda (Reeves) Harrison She is survived by her husband, Jim R Reeves, 1 daughter Melanie (Reeves) Moore Hards, a granddaughter Tabitha Moore, and a grandson Everett Moore all of Midland TX. And a grandson Marshall Davilla and son-in-law Raymond Davilla of Tijeras NM. A sister Mika L Jackson of Granbury, TX Brother & sister-in-law Maynard & Faye Reeves of Boonsville, TX. Brother & sister-in-law Terry & Elaine Littau of Perryton, TX. Also numerous nieces & nephews. Linda was born on September 22nd, 1946 in Shattuck, OK. She lived as a little girl in the town of Fargo, OK where her mother owned the only grocery store. The local townspeople called her “Bread Baby” because when she was a toddler she would go into the store and get herself some milk for her bottle and a piece of bread. Later her family would move to Perryton, TX which was 100 miles to the west of Fargo. Linda missed being in Fargo because of the fact her grandparents lived there and had a garden and chickens. She loved spending time with them and would hop on a railroad car called the “doodlebug” and take it down the tracks from Perryton to Fargo. This did not always sit well with her mom because sometimes she did not know she had decided to go see her grandparents and had left while her mom was at work. Her father and grandfather both worked on the railroad so she was known by most who worked for the railroad. She would spend the rest of her growing up years in Perryton attending school there and attending the First Nazarene Church. When Perryton started a boys and girls club ACYC (All Church Youth Club) she joined this and was on their trampoline team and their girls’ basketball team. This is where she would meet the love that would last for 61 years together in marriage. Jim was on the boxing team with the club when they began dating. They were married on July 9th, 1961 their adventures together began. Linda and Jim lived in Perryton for a few years then left for Fort Worth, TX where their oldest daughter Mylinda was born in 1965. During this time Linda went to Cosmetology School and became a very successful hairstylist. Then Melanie was born in 1968. Soon after Melanie was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia. Linda and Jim went to God for help and found salvation. The doctors told them Melanie would not live past the age of 5 and when she was 4 years of age the Lord Jesus healed her completely. After this time Jim and Linda felt the Lord calling them to be missionaries to the Navajo people in New Mexico. So in 1975, they moved out to Prewitt NM. Linda loved being among the Navajo people, she studied to learn their language and was at home among them. And enjoyed when they would come over to her home. After spending 3 years in Prewitt NM the family moved back to Ft. Worth TX and even though the family was no longer with the Navajo mission she kept in touch with many of the Native American families. In Ft Worth, she worked with the Women’s Ministry program at Saginaw Assembly of God. Jim and Linda were associate pastors’ at Saginaw Assembly of God to Reverends Fermin J Pearce and Lillie Pearce. Linda always worked with the missionette and royal ranger programs while her children and grandchildren were involved in these programs at all of the churches she attended. Later in 1979 the family moved to West Texas to White Face and pastored White Face Assembly of God. Linda ministered many times to the young girls that would come from nearby Girls Town. This meant so much to her and she would hold service when Jim was unavailable. She touched many lives there. Jim had to find work to support the family working in the oilfields as a roughneck something he had done when they lived in Perryton TX. He was offered a job in Wyoming and the family moved to Pinedale Wyoming. This was quite the adventure for the family, especially Linda she began to have tiny strokes and no one knew this was happening. Linda just kept going until it became very evident something was wrong. The family went back to Fort Worth before moving again this time to Sterling, OK. There Jim and Linda once again worked with churches and also got involved with the Native American churches in Oklahoma which have always been a big part of their heart. Jim and Linda were on staff at Chickasha First Assembly of God as Golden air Pastors’ to Reverends Dwain Jones and Jeanie Jones. Linda and Jim stayed in Oklahoma until moving to Stanley NM to be close to their children and grandchildren. Linda was involved in helping her daughter Mylinda’s ministry to Native Americans helping feed, as well as spiritual needs. Linda has always been a generous giver and supported many different ministries and churches. She loved helping people to find Jesus the way she had found Him. Linda was enrolled in hospice in NM and they recommended she move to Midland TX to be with her daughter and closer to medical facilities. Linda passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Midland TX with her husband, daughter, and grandchildren at her side. A note from Linda’s husband: “When Linda and I knelt at the alter we had no idea of the long and winding road we were on. The many turns and detours we would encounter, but Linda was a good helpmate she nursed me when I was sick. She worked beside me to make ends meet and she never complained throughout all the hardships, even when I moved her into a tent on the mountain in Taos, NM while I was a lumberjack. When she had to leave different homes and move into the unknown she made do with what was provided. She also traveled to almost every state to work with me and even out of the country to Trinidad. To me, she was what the Bible says is a good wife, mother, and grandmother. That winding road has now turned to gold.” Revelation 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6th at 2 pm at Life House Fellowship Church located at 1607 N FM 1788 Midland TX 79703 Interment will be on Monday, August 8th at 10 am at Serenity Memorial Gardens located at 6800 S Hwy 349 Midland TX 79706 Pastors Jeremy and Tony Sutton to officiate the services.
